Welcome to The Top 4 Wood Carving Safety Aprons Review. In this article, I will cover four very good wood carving aprons and what features they offer to carvers.
The first apron is the least expensive and each apron after that costs more than the one before it. I will not quote prices, as these change from time to time, and I want my articles to be as accurate as possible at all times.
Product Warning!
WARNING FOR RESIDENTS OF CALIFORNIA!
These products may expose you to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Please read our Proposition 65 warning.
For more information, see www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
Explanation of product warning:
All of these products except the leather apron use chemicals to help bind the weave of the fabric to help give them their “ballistic” quality protection. The State of California requires a warning to be issued when these chemicals are used. Hence, the product warning.
Let’s get started:
FastCap Ballistic Nylon Apron
Highland # 167231
Detailed Description:
This rugged apron is made of durable black nylon and has pockets and compartments to keep your essential items accessible. The apron’s length falls just above mid-thigh, allowing ease of movement.
Back straps are designed so the weight of the apron’s contents is carried on the shoulders with less stress to the neck area. Super strong tie strings are securely fastened with heavy stitching for long wear.
This apron is good for wood carving, woodworking, painting, or any other messy project you might have.
The nylon fabric is very tightly woven to give added strength to protect from flying wood chips; this is why it’s called “Ballistic”.

Although this is a wood turner’s apron, it is also very good to use as a carving apron, as it is made from the same durable nylon as the FastCap apron. It’s longer length will add greater protection for your knees and legs from carving chips and sawdust. It doesn’t have as many pockets as the FastCap apron, but you might like the longer length.

Their pockets and compartments keep your essential items accessible. The length, back strap designs, and Super strong construction are all great features. I’ve also covered the benefits to you for each apron.

Hello! I simply wish to give you a big thumbs up for the excellent info you have right here on this post. I will be coming back to your web site for more soon.
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it.
I’m so glad you found my article informative.
Thanks for your review of the top 4 woodcarving safety aprons that you have pulled together. This is an item that many hobbyists forget about but it can be vital in some situations and is an item that all should have and use as they go about their work.
The one that I like the best is the leather apron that you have reviewed. I have had one for years and it just does not wear out much with constant use. Mine is a few decades old now, and it is leather, so the time has come to retire it and get a new one. I would imagine that this one is the most expensive of the four?
Thanks Dave for reading my article on The Top 4 Wood Carving Safety Aprons Review. I’m so very glad you found this article useful and informative.
I totally agree with you on the fact that most people forget about having and using safety gear. Having and using an apron will not only protect your clothes but your skin and sometimes your body parts too. I believe everyone that works with any kind of tools needs to have and use the correct kind of safety equipment. If you’re not doing it safely, you shouldn’t be doing it at all.
The leather apron is a great choose and will last for years to come. If your leather apron is over ten years old, you are right, it probably needs to be retired and replaced. Yes, the leather apron is the most expensive one that I reviewed, but it’s also the one that will last the longest too.
I make garden furniture, wishing wells, bird feeders, nest boxes etc, it started just as an hobby but has now become a busy little venture which started with a neighbor buying a wishing well, it has now spread to other people wanting items for their garden, these aprons look perfect for me, I really do like the kilt ballistic apron, the pockets come in very handy while working, I am so tempted to buy this apron, however, I do have a question, why have you added health warnings for California residents.
Thanks for reading my article on The Top 4 Wood Carving Safety Aprons Review. I’m so glad you found this article helpful. The Kilt ballistic apron is the one I would choose also, it’s a very nice combination apron. I believe it would fit your needs perfectly.
I put health warnings to California residents on those products because the state of California has a law that says any product that MIGHT have a chemical that COULD cause cancer in it HAS to have this warning attached to it.
The chemicals in the “Ballistic” process used for these aprons is one of those, it helps the threads bind very close together to form the “Ballistic” effect. That doesn’t mean it will cause cancer, only that there might be a small possibility due to exposure.
Your garden furniture business sounds wonderful. It does seem that a good many hobbies or one time projects do turn into small businesses. That’s just the way it seems to be, but as long as you’re enjoying what you’re doing that’s all that matters. Best wishes to you and your business.
Thanks,
